We visited Sweden in September 2026. After a tiring long and hot summer in Germany, we were longing for green nature and cooler temperatures, therefore only Northern Europe came into question for us with Sweden being our final pick.
We started of in the North hiking the Höga Kusten Leden, one of Sweden’s many long distance hikes and went south from thereone. Passing through Stockholm, we visited Gränna and Vättern, Göteborg, and Halmstad before returning to Germany overland via the Öresund Bridge.
We absolutely loved our time in the country. Clean streets, quiet altmosphere and endless nature really calm you down. Everything works perfectly and food was exceptional almost everywhere we went.
High standards come with high prices though. As we are only students, we had a quiet small budget for this rather expensive place. Sleeping in the tent from time to time and using some of the many free services throughout the country really helped there.
As a nature lover, Sweden has ruined Germany for me. Although we have some nice areas as well, the sheer scale of forests and endless coastal archipelagos are every dream come true. We are hoping to be back there soon and we will definitely write about it here on this blog.
