Egypt

Budget travel to amazing places

We visited Egypt during March and April 2026. A country rich in culture and hospitality, that has so much more to offer than just the pyramids and pharao’s. Here you can find out how it went and what tips and tricks we came up with to make your itinerary to Egypt a bit easier. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

We started our trip in the south flying into Marsa Alam. From there, we spent a couple days each in Luxor and Aswan in the south with a daytrip to Abu Simbel, before taking a flight up North into Cairo. There we visited not only the Pyramids but also the New Administrative Capital, which was a major highlight for us.

Completely different again was our time in the Siwa Oasis in the middle of the Sahara, which in my opinion should be on everyone’s bucket list. We finished off in Alexandria, a city which surprised us with it’s mix of oriental and Mediterranean flair.

We were extremely surprised by the hospitality of the people and the amazing food scene everywhere in the country. In my opinion, Egypt is severely underrated, as outside of major tourism hotspots we were practically by ourselves the entire time.
