We traveled Sri Lanka for over a month in 2025. Spending time in sunny beach towns and rainy mountainous jungles, we experienced Sri Lankan culture and hospitality first hand. Here you can find stories, tips and tricks about our time there. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
We started our circle around the country along the southern shore exploring beach towns and living the surf bum life to relax and soak up the Sri Lankan way of life. Although pretty overrun by tourism, this part of the country just has the perfect beaches and is generally the best in terms of accessibility making transportation easy here.
After we had enough of the coast, we enjoyed a couple of days trekking around the central highlands, also called the „teak country“ along the Pekoe Trail, as well as spending a couple of days near Ella. Especially the trail was very special to us, as we practically never encountered another hiker, while on the trail. Here, we really got to meet the local population and made some of the most memorable encounters of our long trip through Asia.
We ended our time is Sri Lanka by staing in Arugam Bay. This place is perfect to see the fantastic wildlife of the country and well, go surfing of course. In the future we will definitely come back and explore the more wild and undiscovered North.
